Introduction

The year is 1353 DR. It has been 13 years since House Do’Urden was destroyed, and the rest of the city is in turmoil. Bregan D’aerthe is seeking to slay Drizzt in order to gain more favor from Lolth. More importanly, it is obvious that an unknown force is making the god of drow uneasy. Any deed done to favor Lolth will be rewarded tenfold in this time of uncertainty. What more would please Lolth than the destruction of the one who escaped her will? Even the vainest of drow should bow before the slayers of Lolth’s most hated mortal enemy. This is the 3rd group that Jarlaxle has hoped to raise to great heights. Will they perish like the rest? Or rise to glory in the eyes of their god?

May 5th- First session

The group finds themselves at the top of the eastern guard tower of the BDA compound. Cho’Gath of the Void, Vladamir the Earthshaper, Kara the chick, Bishop the inventor, and Argalon are charged with acting as a pre-emptive strike force against any enemy intrusion to the matron mother’s council. One of the disposable scouts sees suspicious movement in the distance as the group gains their bearings. Vladamir is the first to get a decent look at the enemy. A few black figures were seen racing from cover to cover in an attempt to get closer to the compound. A scout is sent to investigate, and did not return. Soon, the group decides to warn the higher ups of the suspicious activity. They run into a squirmy looking drow who seems to be a spy or assassin working for the enemy. It takes awhile, but the group figures that the real intention of this fellow was to plant bombs. Bishop orders others to aid him in the search, but it was he who found the most well hidden and important bomb; the bomb planted on the council room. Soon, the group hears the thunderous footsteps of an enemy attack. While the compound frantically went into combat formation, the group attempted to attack the bombarding wizards at the back flank of the attacking army. The shrine of Lolth seemed like the best route to take to get to their destination. Bishop, holding the bombs, also sought to get them as far away from the compound as possible. But the group was halted by a strike force led by Zin’Zerena, a mysterious assassin who seemed like an incarnation of darkness. The group fared well in combat against their foes, being aided by Houser 1 finger at a critical moment. But the shrine ended up being destroyed, along with a large chunk of the attacking force. A Yochlol appeared and questioned the group on the incident, but decided that the enemy was to blame for the destruction. The battle then quickly turned around in favor of BDA and the matron mothers. No doubt Lolth had decided who the winner would be. Now the group has a strait path to the mages whom are still a dangerous force to the council.

May 14th, Second session

The group decides that the best course of action to take in the battle is to attack the bombarding ritual wizards. As they argue amongst themselves about strategy, Irea’Nolu teleports into the fray and begins dueling the tougher looking mage. The group sprung into action, Cho’gath and Aghar leading the charge. They were met with fierce resistance by two drow defenders, a sniper, and 3 mages. Though the opposition held up a good fight, they were no match for Kara’s deadly firey arrows and Bishops savage electrically charged hammer. While Cho’Gath and Vladamir kept them in the right spot, Aghar pummeled his enemies with the teleporting fist style. No foe was left alive, except for the human wizard, PoiPoi, who was dueling Irea. After the fight, Irea informed the group of the mage’s identity and the mystery surrounding his involvement in drow affairs. As this was going on, Zebith curiously investigated the body of the fire elementalist whom was charred badly by Irea’s firey tornado spell. As Zebith tore out the fiendish heart of his foe, The Orb of Mystery seemed to abosrd it’s being! His new found satellite glowed with warm red. The orb then instilled Zebith with a clear image of a containment area with another floating satellite just like his. It was clear to Zebith that this facility is located somewhere in Chez’Nasad, Menzobarrenzan’s sister city. When the battle-weary group arrived back to the compound, they were summoned by the Matron’s and officer’s of BDA. Triel gifted Bishop with a rare element known as infinium and plotted out where he could find the catalyst and where he could forge it. The group was given a choice between siding with Oblodra, Beanre, or Barrison. The group chose Beanre. Aghar also found a note on one of the assassin’s bodies from a priestess named Ausva. Ausva claims that Aghar must be brought to her dead or alive, as his ki focus is known to react in a powerful way to a relic named “the pocket watch”. Kara was instructed to speak with Irea concerning her dragon’s abilities. The group has chosen to follow the path that the note has spelled out, as it seems to be the most pressing matter at hand. Having powerful shadow assassins on your tail is not a good thing.

May 18th- Into the Pocket Watch

While most of the group decided to spend their newly acquired money and sell off loot, Aghar began his search for a drow male named Trofz’xik. He found Trofz in a store called “The Scroll Emporium”, a store which specializes in magic and ancient knowlege. Trofz, being an experienced and tactful negotiator, swindled Aghar for every last copper coin he possessed before giving him the information he sought. Trofz told Aghar about the pocket watch, and how Aghar was raised and trained specifically for its use. Trofz also reckoned that Aghar’s sister Ausva is desperate for power, and is willing to take extreme measures to attain it. Aghar then departed for the ruins of house Do’urden to rally his comrades. The group quickly set off for house Oblodra. As they arrived at the gate, a guard atop the wall greeted them with a rough tone. After some talking, the guard set off to call a hearing with Aghar’s sister. Aghar’s noble sister entered their meeting room holding the artifact known as the pocket watch, and instructed the group to begin the ritual to delve into it immediately. The group walked outside the meeting room to find that the matron mother and priestesses of house Oblodra had all congregated to meet them. They instructed the group to go to the noble terrace of the house. Zebith decided to use his levitation powers to ascend the terrace, an act which made the priestess Ausva suspicious of the mage. The group quickly found themselves around a ritual circle, and quicker still inside of the pocket watches special dimension. The group spent the next 100 years wandering the labyrinth of the pocket watch in utter loneliness and distress. Somehow, they were broken out of their stupor to be face to face with themselves- minus anti Aghar. The anti group claimed that Aghar was slain by the group before them, and their Aghar was slew before that, so on and so forth for as long as anyone could remember. There was only one difference. Zebith held the orb of mystery while anti Zebith held a staff. The orb only chuckled slightly and said “what a mysterious circumstance!”. Soon, the anti group laid silent and dead. The group then found themselves in a sealed off room with no exits or entryways. The only being other than them to inhabit this room was the previous user. The previous user had no sentient form, but instead, was made up of green, blue, and red orbs to signify its past sentience. The group managed to defeat this disaster of creation and escape with a pocket watch which they found inside of the pocket watch’s dimension. Matron Mother Rezs was shocked and greatly impressed with the actions of Aghar. So much so that she demanded, with the threat of execution, that Aghar and his group represent house Oblodra in the upcoming power tournament.

To Ched'Nasad!

With the looming threat of execution by the hands of Oblodrian assassins, the group decided that a change of scenery would be appropriate. Bishop, Karra, Cho’Gath, and Zebith all had things to take care of within the city of crystalline webbings. Zebith had a mysterious feeling about a possible enhancement to his orbital implement, Kara felt the need to gain information about her cute, yet dangerous best friend dragon, Bishop required a catalyst to mold his infinium into something useful, and Cho’Gath wished to meet with the Arachnomancer. While some sought power, information, or the simple thrill of adventure, the group was ever aware of their 1 month time constraint. Getting to and back from Ched"nasad would take at least 2 weeks. An injury or any stumble along the way could spell disaster. If they returned empty handed, they might risk being outclassed by the other champions. The only choice was to bravely move forward into unknown perils. After a short conversation with Jarlaxle, in which the group explained their intent on supporting House Beanre, the group requisitioned resources for the journey and departed. They also picked up a medium sized mercenary escort. The journey was a harsh one. Along the way, a few small skirmishes were fought which included fending off wild dark creatures and defending against goblin and orc bandits. The foes were no match for the group’s experience and guile. after 5 days of relative ease however, Vladamir noticed a strange rumbling. Soon the group realized that a horde of hungry spiders were advancing on their position! Thinking quickly, Bishop commanded everyone to take their roles. Zebith hurled massive fireballs, utilizing his new found siege ritual. This destroyed the spider’s ranks and killed dozens of the cruel critters. Zebith continued his assault while Cho’Gath and Vladimir took to the front lines, heroically commanding the battalion of battle hardened mercenaries. Bishop and Karra took the role of providing artillery to the back lines, effectively thinning the herd as the countless invasion of deadly arachnids tore through the flesh of the poor hired swords. All the while, Aghar skulked through the shadows, tearing apart fiend after fiend in a savage assassination spree. Though, onlookers probably would not notice any of the exploits of the above mentioned, as the real stars of the show were a few unnamed, selfless , brave, and very dead mercenaries. They killed one after another with frenzied blows, overshadowing even the toughest and nimblest of drow warriors. They were probably destined for epic deeds in the future, but it would seem as though the group selfishly threw them away for their own gains. Only 1 mercenary survived. Cursing the group and their insidious plot to use the sell swords as cannon fodder, he vowed to one day enact his revenge. The remainder of the journey was harsh only because of the wounds inflicted by the arachnid horde. As the champions of Beanre approached the gate to Ched’Nasad, Cho’Gath noticed a 4 on the palm of his hand. Cho’Gath would not know the dangers of this event until meeting up with an old acquaintance within the gates of the crystalline city.

The Arachnomancer's Tower

Upon entering the city of shimmering webs, the group decided to find a decent inn to use as a base of operations. One was found, and preparations for the groups next move began soon after. Aghar and Zebith decided that it would be best to rest up before getting into anymore life or death situations. The rest of the group went on to investigate Zebith’s mysterious new orb. But as the group strolled towards the mage’s terrace, a familiar face showed its dastardly colors once again. Zin’Zerena had been waiting on the group to pass by and was lying in wait for an ambush atop the Temple of Lolth. As she lept down from her perch, Vladamir and Cho’Gath attempted to make a run for it down some back allys leading towards the bazaar. But the skilled shadow assassin was used to running down cunning prey. She quickly caught up to Cho’Gath, taking him hostage. Meanwhile, Karra and Bishop, after hearing of the commotion, rushed to the temple district to find Vladimir. He quickly caught them up and led everyone to where the culprit rushed off to. With some elementary tracking skills, Vladimir found that Zerena had taken Cho’Gath to the Arcaneum. The group had no problem getting in. Actually, it was strange how easy it was to tail the assassin and enter the compound where she had taken their ally. The group noticed that Zerena and Cho’Gath entered a back room within the magical artifact containment area. Cho’Gath met a priestess named Ze’ah within the room. Ze’ah instructed Cho’Gath that he and his companions must make haste in reaching the Anachromancer’s tower, as he hadn’t much time. She gave Cho’Gath a scroll. In which depicted a Drider making 6 transformations. The last of which seeming like a godly monstrosity. Ze’ah handed Zerena a bag of gold and dismissed her. Ze’ah also mentioned that she is a priestess of Zin’Zerena, a thing which made almost no sense to Cho’Gath. The group eventually departed for the mage’s tower, along with Ze’ah. Upon reaching the spider infested tower, they were greeted by the arachnomacer’s voice emanating from a spiderling. The group of worldly adventurer’s were surprised by the construction of the tower. It was one of the tallest structures they had ever laid eyes on, and it was made completely out of spider’s web. New additions were constantly being made. It was clear that this was meant to perform the function of a defensible fortress. Countless spiders and other creatures toiled away at making armor, weapons, and adding to the tower’s defenses. Upon entering the tower, the arachnomancer greeted the troupe in a more proper form, as the intimidatingly powerful magic user PoiPoi. It was clear that this is his domain, where almost no one would have a chance at defeating him. The mage then began the ritual to contain Cho’Gath’s next form. A dozen spiders rappelled from the ceiling, and PoiPoi summoned his “avatar”. Combat soon began. Though it was over in a matter of seconds. Everyone, even Ze’ah and PoiPoi stood clear of Cho’Gath as he made his transformation. The beast which took the place of Cho’Gath was the most terrifying thing that any of them had ever witnessed. But it was contained within a magical seal. Cho’Gath soon reverted to his humanoid form, a bit dazed but without any injuries. Zin’Zerena then instructed PoiPoi to begin the arrangements for her ascension to “godliness”. It seems as though Cho’Gath is but a test, a disposable pawn. But one that is still of use to these people. Cho’Gath has now gained a better understanding of his purpose and goals, and will continue to grow. But how will his story end? An abysmal catastrophic transformation? or a controlled and witting powerful abomination? The group had much time to mull these questions over on the quiet ride back to Ched’Nasad.

Black Dragon's Den

Kara and Co. set off to defeat the black dragon and learn the truename of obsidian. They fought valiantly and were able to defeat the beast and it’s minions. Though they let it live. The dragon swore to take its revenge on the group right after they stole the dragon’s treasure. This included a new power core for bishop, the black dragon bow for kara, and a magical hat for kara among other things. The group traveled back to Ched’Nasad, meeting an old friend along the way…

The Assassins of Oblodra

Upon their return to the city of shimmering webs, the group happened upon their old friend Trofz’xiks. Trofz returned to Aghar his long lost pocket watch and informed the daring adventurers of the TWENTY ASSASSINS ON THEIR TAILS AHHH! Trofz led the group back to his hideout within the city, nervously peeking around to make sure that no unwelcome eyes were gazing where they shouldn’t. Unknown to the group, Trofz had led the cunning assassins on a clever ruse designed to avert their attention while Trofz collected the Paragons of Menzoberanzan. The gang made haste in reaching Trofz’ hideout, which was essentially a storage unit in the house tier. Inside, there was an oblodrian assassin tied up to a chair in front of a table with his house insignia laying out. Finley, Trofz’ friend and intelligence specialist sped the group up on the situation. As it turns out, Oblodra wasn’t very happy with the empty promise that the group made to her. So she sent a strike force made up of the most deadly psions house Oblodra could offer to destroy Jarlaxle’s J-squad. The psions quickly found Aghar’s pocket watch, which Finley and Trofz luckily recovered. Zebith eagerly took on the role of torturer in order to get information. A quarter hour passed by with almost no results. As the group was bickering back and forth about their next move, Bishop realized that the Oblodrian insignia was a comunications device which had been transmitting everything said in the room up to this point! The group destroyed it and decided the best course of action would be to send a group out with the wagon in order to bait the assassins out. To everyone’s dismay, they soon heard a frantic knock on the unit’s front door shortly after the wagon was sent out. They had been ambushed! Vladamir and Zebith were in critical condition, and Finley was barely able to stand. It was time for the group to make their stand. The battle was over in a matter of seconds. Even with the aid of local mercenaries, the assassins had no chance vs. Cho’Gath’s sturdy defense and Bishop’s crushing hammer. The group left no survivors of the dozen strong ambush squad.

Assault on the Mind Flayers!

After the group had licked their wounds and finally gotten a bit of rest after their last adventure, Bishop decided it was about time to take the mind flayers of the western shallow down. The camp in particular has had control of inter-planar travel in the area for hundreds of years. It had also been rumored that a demon was controlling the creatures through a hive mind link. Bishop had already met with an illithid selling wares in the market district that was eager for the opportunity to help Bishop retrieve the catalyst that the mind flayers held. He warned Bishop in the typical psychic manner which is common among the otherwordly creatures, that the mind flayer camp is not a group to take lightly. Bishop would not only need his group, but also the skills of some other powerful allies. There were a few goals to achieve to successfully take down this hive mind. 1.) The hive mind link was to be assassinated 2.) the catalyst must be stolen 3.) the planar portals would need to be disabled as to avoid the mind flayers from summoning their most powerful defenses and 4.) the main force of their army had to be kept at bay. Bishop, against his better judgement, decided to hire Zin’Zerena and her allies to take care of the assassination. He then went to the militant schools to pick up the bulk of his fighting force, then finally hired Trofz and his accomplice Finley to take care of the catalyst theft. The Journey was not long and soon the makeshift strike force had reached the perimeter of the camp. With haste, Bishop laid down the “map” to the camp. This disrupted the hive mind enough to allow the army to pass undetected. The hive mind then proceeded to be massacred. The final score was 2 casualties for the drow, and 23 for the hive mind. There were also around 30 mind flayer prisoners. As agreed, Bishop received his catalyst, and the mind flayer received control of the planar links and became the hive mind link. As Bishop left, he had a feeling that it all came together a little too easily… The journey back was uneventful, as a group of 20 odd drow know very little real challenge in underdark creatures.

The Battle for Mithril Hall

The group bids farewell to the City of Shimmering Webs as they depart back to their home city of Menzoberranzan. After they forge Bishop’s new weapon at the god’s forge in Mithril Hall, they will have a few days to prepare for the tournament. Bishop had one more thing to do before he finally left behind Ched’Nasad; he had to say goodbye to his “friend” Drizzt Tezla. But to his dismay, he found his friend dismembered and displayed in the workshop that they spent so many hours toiling away for Bishop’s ends. A warning from a group called “The Guild of Innovation” read that Bishop should cease all body modification and unsanctioned technological advances if he didn’t want to end up like Robot Rob. Bishop did find something hidden, seemingly just for him, behind some old beer glasses. It was the specifications for what seemed to be a 3rd arm. Bishop took the plans and spoke a quick, solemn prayer to his friend. He didn’t mellow on this for long though, for within the hour he and his group were off to the Breagan D’Aerthe compound. The group did run into a few bands of goblins and various other underdark creatures. They could tell by the ease of their travels that they had become much stronger than when they left for Ched’Nasad just weeks ago. Their arrival was probably heard throughout the entire City of Splendors. Jarlaxle informed the group of the Oblodrian insurrection upon the new political system, and of their obvious thirst for Aghar’s blood. He also informed them of intel that pointed to Zin’Zerena making an appearance in the city soon. The group took all of the information that the various officers of BDA had given them with a grain of salt however, because Drizzt Du’Ordens words still rang in the back of their minds. For now though, it seems as though their status with BDA is very high, and their power within the city has never been greater. Talk of them commanding their own battalion within the ranks has been uttered here and there. After swapping intel with the brass of BDA, the group figured it would be a good time to rest up before heading off to Mithril Hall. Before long, they found themselves face to face with the golden gates of the formerly majestic dwarven stronghold. While still a true wonder to behold, it now stands at only a fraction of its former glory and splendor. The Duergar had not been taking good care of it. After making a deal with some of the outer, lower class craftsmen, the adventurers found themselves inside the massive fortress. Suddenly, horns sounded off and explosions blasted through the western side of the city. Chaos ensued, as the duergar scrambled to find weapons, or rocks, or anything that could help their chances of survival. Even the dim witted ones understood. Mithril hall was being invaded. Dwarves clad in ornate, magical armor stormed the gates, slicing through the cowardly duergar with ease. Drizzt was among the dwarves, going full force against his combatants. Bishop, thinking this an opportunity, slipped into the god forge’s chamber. A few lowly duergar stood guard, becoming nothing more than fodder to Bishops wrath. He started the process of enchanting and reforging the components of his weapon immediately. With the help of the infinium and Zebith’s skillful magical abilities, the inventor had an easy time creating his latest marvel. The catalyst hissed fiercly and flames erupted violently. The crackle of residuum echoed throughout the chamber, drowning out the sounds of war and killing going on just a few dozen yards away. Bishop seemed to gain skill in technology seemingly out of nowhere at this moment, as if his entire life had led up to this point. When it was done, Bishop stood with a mace and sword; the true weapons of Severatim. Wasting no time, the group gathered themselves and joined the battle for survival ensuing outside of the chamber. They noticed that Drizzt was having a difficult time with a group of duergar. It also seemed as if the under dwarves had taken on a physical change.. a devilish change. It was obvious that the cowards had made some sort of pact with devils in order to protect this place. It was probably the reason Mithril Hall was taken in the first place. The group decided to take out Drizzt here and now while they had the chance. However, an elite group of Duergar stood in their path. The group defeated the devilish fiends with relative ease, but not in time. Drizzt had already slain his opponents and was no longer vulnerable.. vengeance for Lolth would have to wait. Now Drizzt and Co. and the dwarves of Mithril hall consider the group allies. The battle was decided. The wretched surface dwellers had won out over the Duergar.
